Hello Washington D.C.

After lots of touring over last 6 months, I'll be spending the next few in my new home-city of Washington D.C. ... but indeed, these wheels continue to turn! While exploring this new music scene, I'll be hosting an open mic night in the happening neighborhood of H St. in downtown D.C. (details TBA) and I'll be playing a slew of local shows including a bunch of summer street festival performances. Check in on my calendar to see when and where... better yet, - Sign the Mailing List!- Email info@anniecranemusic.com and put "Sign Me Up" in the subject line.

It's 80°F today... in mid-March. Quite different from the Northern border line and NYC. I think I might like D.C.

Happy 2012 Everyone!
Here's a winter update to warm your bellies.
I MOVED!: I’ve recently relocated from NYC to Washington, D.C. I had never been to our nations capital much before, but I’m pleasantly surprised by it! It’s hard to match up to NYC and I don’t think I’ll ever try to compare the two, but I will say that I love how manageable D.C. is, how lovely the natural Rock Creek Park is meandering throughout, how awesome it is to have family living just across the state line in VA... and D.C. has some pretty killer coffee joints, Qualia Coffee being my current favorite (the beans are roasted on site; pretty awesome indeed). I'm planning on staying put here through the spring and summer so that I can get to know my new home and discover the local music scene of D.C. and near-by Baltimore. Touring should resume in late summer/early fall and I hope to get some fun local DC stuff happening soon. Will keep you posted on that.
FAI: In February I'll playing shows in VA, NC, TN, PA & NYC. You can find the schedule below as well as on my calendar page. The tour is booked around The 24th Annual International Folk Alliance Conference in Memphis, TN. If you’re also attending FAI, be sure to stop by and say "Hi!" at one of these private showcases:
2/22, Moors & McCumber Presents, 10:20-11:10PM, Solo, Room # TBA
2/23, Constant Clip Presents, 11:30-12AM, Annie Crane + Putnam Smith, #1707
2/24, Constant Clip Presents, 12-12:30AM, Annie Crane, Steven Bacon + J Wagner, #1707
2/25, Constant Clip Presents, 11:30-12AM, Annie Crane, J Wagner + Elam Blackman (Constant Clip in the Round!), #1707
BANDCAMP: I’ve finally put my two albums on bandcamp for you! The newer album Jump With a Child's Heart is there for purchase and streaming, but my older album, Through the Farmlands and the Cities is available  as a free download! Check it out.
ZAPTOWN REVIEW: “Crane extracts an instant wonderment...” A lovely review of Jump With a Child’s Heart in Indianapolis’s ZapTown Magazine.
STARBUCKS: Remember to keep your ears peeled for songs off my new album currently being played at your local Starbucks store. So far there have been audial sightings in NYC; St. Louis, MO; Seattle, WA; Las Vegas, NV; Rochester, NY... pretty dang cool!

My Music at Starbucks!

When you stop in for your favorite winter time coffee drink at Starbucks, keep your ears peeled for two songs off of my recently released album, Jump With a Child's Heart. The songs: "You & Me & the Evergreen" and "Hell's Gate".

I love how the sea monster in my song "Hell's Gate" ties into the origins of todays coffee king. The name "starbucks" was inspired by Moby Dick and was chosen to call to mind the romance of the high seas and seafaring traditions. Pretty cute for the once-upon-a-time mom-and-pop coffee shop in Seattle. As for "You & Me & the Evergreen"; this is prime evergreen season. Seems pretty appropriate that it'll get to be heard by millions over the upcoming winter. These tunes can be heard at thousands of Starbucks locations around the world over the next few months. I hope you get a chance to hear one of them while buying your morning pick-me-up. And thank you Starbucks for supporting independent music!

Other fun things to check out:
I was a guest columnist a few weeks ago on Memphis, TN's legendary studios, Ardent Studios Music Blog. Ready it here: Pick Three with Annie Crane.

A great interview interspersed with four songs off my new album with DJ Turtle on the most recent edition of L.A.'s, The PLaylist on www.EnterTheShell.com. Stream the podcast here: Annie Crane Playlist.

* Holiday Shopping *
Charity Auction - The folks over at Sleepover Shows in Boston are doing a charity auction featuring signed merch from all of this past year's musicians. I'm thrilled to have my 2009 album Through the Farmlands & the Cities in the bunch. All proceeds go to the Boston Food Bank. Check it out here: Charity: Sleepover Shows.

Independent Music makes an incredible stocking stuffer and Chanukah gift! Consider giving the gift of a once NYC based, now DC loving Americana/Indie Folk musician.

A pretty epic comparison from University of Colorado's, The Denver Advocate:

"The album feels like memoirs of a traveler and an explorer. This is what Christopher McCandless of 'Into the Wild' had to feel like while traveling across the country".

... freaking awesome. Thanks UCD Advocate!
